Price Is Wrong (“the Game”) is operated as a casual browser game. This page describes what data we collect and why.
1. What we collect
- Anonymous device identifier.When you first visit, we generate a random UUID and store it in your browser's localStorage (key
pricewrong_anon_id) so your runs can be ranked on the daily leaderboard. No name, email, or other personal information is required. - Run data. When you finish a game, we record the products you saw, your guesses, your streak, and per-round response times. This is used to power the leaderboard and detect cheating.
- Hashed IP. A SHA-256 hash of your IP is stored alongside each run for basic abuse prevention. We do not store the raw IP.
- Vercel Analytics. The hosting provider records aggregate, cookieless page view metrics. No individual tracking.
2. What we don't do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
- We do not collect contact information unless you opt in to an account.
3. Affiliate links
Some product links on the game-over screen are affiliate links. If you click through and purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We do not share your identity with the affiliate partner; only that the click came from this site.
4. Your data, your control
Clearing your browser's localStorage erases your anonymous ID and disconnects this browser from any prior runs. Past runs are retained anonymously for analytics.
